Something New- Vermont Wedding Photographer

Early last fall, I decided that I wanted to add something else to my business as a wedding photographer that I could offer not only to my couples as an add-on option, but also to others as well.  Though I’m not at the point of offering all of the services just yet, I will start offering calligraphy for weddings, etc in the coming weeks.  I’m going to start small since my main focus will always be with capturing (and the many hours spent editing) weddings and elopements.  As a person that always has something creative on my mind, I needed something else to add to the mix now that I’m no longer capturing senior portraits.  While I still design templates for other photographers over at Two Pear Designs (if you’re a photographer be sure to head on over and see the new things that we’ll be cooking up in the coming weeks) and embroider on the side, I wanted to be able to do something else that kept my creative mind moving.  Calligraphy was the perfect answer.  I remember that when we were taught calligraphy in art class in middle school, that I was the only one in my class that was intrigued by the art.  Twenty years later and I’m still equally intrigued.  So for the time being, I’m going to start off only offering reception details such as reception cards and table numbers.  I’m hoping that by the end of the summer I’ll feel comfortable enough to start offering calligraphy for envelopes.  I’m starting off with only one calligraphy style as well for the time being and maybe as time goes by, I’ll add other options.  I’d like to eventually bring together the calligraphy and design side of things to work on creating menus and invitations as well, but smaller is better for me right now.  I’ll be adding the details to my 2014 and 2015 (I’ll be finishing up my new magazine by later this upcoming week) Wedding Magazine, but if you’re interested in adding some handmade details to your wedding reception, feel free to drop me a line at

I try to do calligraphy for at least 30 minutes a day and I think that what I have the toughest time with is knowing that there will always be human error involved and it’s not exactly something that I can go back and erase like I can in Photoshop if I do something wrong.  But when it comes to calligraphy, I enjoy it enough to keep on trying and having a little fun along the way
