Spring has sprung!- Vermont Wedding Photographer

And she let me take some photos of her that I will treasure forever….

Can’t you just hear her going “OOOHHHHHMMMMMMMMM” in that last one?!!

In other news, this weather is totally out of control!  We were able to take the grill out of winter storage and we even slept with the back door off of our bedroom open so that we could hear the river at night.  Typically this time of the year, we’d still be working inside of the house on our renovations, but this year has brought forth a lot of change!  My husband recently acquired a 1972 Chevrolet Pick-up that he’s restoring and when I say restore, I mean full out everything off of the frame and putting it back together piece by painful piece.  He’s enjoying absolutely every moment though and we’re enjoying watching him in the garage!!

Sadly, my lawn looks like a dump truck filled with sand flipped over and it’s going to take a lot more work to repair it than I think we originally thought it would.  In the grand scheme of things, an ugly lawn is a lot better than the loss of land or a home so in that respect we’re very lucky…..but it still sucks that each time I look out my bedroom window, I have a constant reminder of that day :(   We still have A LOT of sand to remove, a river bank to restore with some natural plantings, some trees that need to come down and some trees that need to go up in their place.  Oh Spring…..we welcome you back!!!

Monday Gratitude- Vermont Wedding Photographer

Things I’m grateful for on this beautiful (but chilly) morning:

::  Slowly putting the finishing details on the restoration of the first floor of our home, including a new wood beam we picked up from an antique wood dealer that was once a part of a barn in Northern Vermont.

::  The small pieces of paper all over my home from Lillian’s addiction to scissors.  They drive me INSANE and she rarely picks them up for the recycle bin, but I love that she’s being creative.

::  The return of said mess after a night spent with Nana and a once clean home.  It’s amazing how messy a 5 soon to be 6 year old can be!

::  Watching my husband work hard on the newest addition to our family- his 1972 Chevrolet pick-up that he’s completely restoring himself.  I’m thinking I need to start documenting the process the same way that I documented the work we’ve done on the house.

::  The time I have to myself during the slow season.  Although sometimes I wish that I could shoot year round like some Southern photographers, I’m always thankful for this break and mindful that I should take full advantage of it.

::  That I finally finished cutting all of the pieces to Lillian’s new quilt.  Now comes hand stitching 64 flowers onto 64 10 inch squares.

::  Receiving a beautiful Save the Date card in the mail from one of my wedding couples that will be getting married this September that I designed.  I love receiving nice things in the mail!

::  The warmer weather while still missing a “real” winter.

::  For the little girl above, who loves wearing her pink glasses 24/7.
