The moment I walked into Johanna’s room where she was getting ready, I knew it was going to be a beautiful day, even if the weather had different plans! The energy in her room was contagious and as soon as I started capturing photos, I couldn’t stop. I always like to get the detail shots out of the way if nothing important is happening……it’s almost like the bedding was made just to match her shoes…..

I love the excitement around this photo……seeing the beautiful bride in her dress for the first time…..

Johanna’s mom helping her out….

And down the hall, David’s mom helping him out…

And I of course had to take advantage of that fabulous light coming in through the windows for a few photos of Johanna….

Once they were ready, it was time for a first look. I’m all about a first look!! I am totally over the moon for them and it’s the one thing I always recommend if you’re willing to break tradition! It’s such a special moment between the two of you where you get to be alone together and reflect upon what is about to happen. And like always, Johanna and David’s first look didn’t disappoint…..

After the first look, it was time to make it official! This is where the weather came into play! A light sprinkle started and soon the thunder started to rumble and I think there were a few flashes too while I had my camera up to my eye but I couldn’t really tell! I had brought a scarf with me to wrap around my camera since I knew rain was a possibility. In the end, the ceremony had to be rushed a little, but even when rushed, it was still heartfelt and beautiful and I think that everyone that was in their presence felt their love
Johanna’s dad wrote and sang the most beautiful song- such a wonderful part of their ceremony….

And then, after some beautiful, heartfelt vows, it was official. They were now Mr. and Mrs.! And talk about a great embrace from David…..LOVE IT!!!

This photo makes me wish that pockets were in style when I got married 8 years ago……how quickly things change!!

Then it’s on to my other favorite time…..portraits of the bride and groom….

Once it was time to head in for the reception, it was time to start off with their first dance. So much thought and care had gone into their day and the A Cappella group that Johanna was a member while in college was absolutely amazing. It was a great way to make their night a memorable one (RPI’s Rusty Pipes just in case you’re wondering.)

After dinner, it was time to party and with tunes courtesy of the fabulous TS Ensemble, it was hard for the guests to NOT be out on the dancefloor. I think what I love about TS Ensemble the most is that they play everything…….old and new which in return means that the dance floor is never empty!

After some dancing, it was time for a little surprise for David……a song sung by his new bride…

And then it was back to dancing again out on that packed dance floor I was telling you about. See that light behind the bride……that’s the fabulous Al from Al Woodard Films who was a great help to me since I had never been to the Glen Sanders Mansion before (fab location btw!)

Whew!!! That was a blog post and a half but it’s hard for me to not share so many beautiful images! Thank you so much for David and Johanna for allowing me to be a part of your day!!
