Eric & Laura- Arlington, Vermont Photographer

It was about as easy as a commute as I can get…..literally less than a half mile from my house in beautiful Arlington, Vermont!  I could technically walk there if I wanted too, but with bags filled with heavy equipment I opted to take the short drive up the mountain to the beautiful West Mountain Inn.  Laura and Eric not only selected a perfect venue to get married, they also happened to pick the perfect weekend to get married in Vermont!  The foliage that time of the year is spectacular……more like breathtaking!  The night before the big day, they held their rehearsal and the dinner shortly after.  It was a great night surrounded by the people they love the most….

Such lovely details at the dinner and of course everyone checking out the Llamas….

On the big day, I arrived, grabbed a few quick photos of the property and then headed up to Laura’s room where I was greeted with many smiles and Laura’s dress hanging from the bed.  It was stunning to say the least and it was handmade especially for her which made it even more beautiful.  The details were impeccable….

Thought and care was put into every single detail of their day and these are just some of the many things that I love to capture about weddings.  Each time I go to a wedding I think to myself “oh how I wish I had something like that on my day” and then I just tell myself “when you renew your vows Carrie, when you renew your vows!!”

Eric and Laura opted to do a first look.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times over…..first looks MAKE ME HAPPY!!!  I love that the moment is just between them.  I love that they don’t feel rushed to be with their guests.  I love that because of their overall relaxed feeling, I’m able to capture more relaxed memories.  If I could do it all over again, this is the one and only thing that I would change about my day.  It’s worth it.

When I sit down at my computer to edit my sessions and weddings, I can see the West Mountain and the mountain in the photo below from my window…..it doesn’t get more beautiful than this in my opinion….

Beautiful flowers from Nancy Bishop at Nancy Bishop Floral Design right in Arlington!

After the ceremony when everyone headed to the cocktail hour, I ran up to the barn to quickly capture some of the beautiful details that make this location so special….

Their first dance and Mr. and Mrs…..

Now….I know this photo is a little blurry and you’re probably asking yourself “why in the world is she showing it if it’s blurry” and the plain and simple reason is because I love it.  It shows happiness…..happiness that I can’t ask them to re-create because my lens was out of focus.  Sometimes great pictures, aren’t always the most technically perfect but because they show emotion, they’re perfect to me and I know that these two were having fun and to me that’s all that matters in the end….

And why not end with the DJ spinning a little tunes….okay not really but she sure does look like she’s doing a great job right?!

Thank you so much Eric and Laura for letting me capture your day!!

Paul & Nicole- Arlington, VT Wedding Photographer

The weather at this years weddings has been amazing and Paul and Nicole’s day was no exception!  I arrived at their house just as Nicole was getting ready to put on her beautiful dress which was absolutely stunning….

a1

As I started taking some of the pics, Nicole mentioned that she didn’t have anything blue, so her mom gave her something blue….

Each time I go to a Catholic Ceremony I feel like it’s my wedding day all over again, the only part I wasn’t missing was standing in my high heels almost the whole time.  The fall colors of Paul and Nicole’s day reminded me even more of my day, right down to the mum’s that lined the aisles along the pews!  It was a beautiful ceremony, with beautiful light which made me even happier!!

a3

After the ceremony we headed to the rose gardens which I had never been too before and it was absolutely beautiful!  Lots of beautiful colors and the way the sun was shining through the trees made it absolutely magical…

When it was time to head to Mallozzi’s I knew that the details inside would be stunning, and I was right.  It was absolutely beautiful and all of the time and planning that Paul and Nicole as well as the staff had put into their day was reflected in every corner of the ballroom.  The cake…..oh my…..it was beautiful and it smelled like heaven!!

For their first dance, they chose one of the most popular songs that I heard at all of my weddings this year…..Dave Matthews Band “You and Me.”  Needless to say this DMB superfan is always happy to hear a little Dave coming through the speakers!

a10

Simply stunning with all of the lights going…..perfect for some slow dancing!

a11

And of course I need to end with a funny pic…..or at least funny from my side of the camera…..watching these two dance all night was a hoot!!

Thank you so much Paul and Nicole for allowing me to capture your beautiful day!!!

Allison & Patty- Arlington, Vermont Wedding Photographer

On my drive up to West Dover, the weather wasn’t looking the greatest.  The report wasn’t calling for rain initially, but the skies were telling a different story.  Then on top of that, I got stuck behind a D.O.T vehicle that was painting lines on the road for what was probably like 10 miles or so……let’s just say that I arrived right in the nick of time even though I left super early (which makes me thankful that I always do that because you just never know when something like that will happen!)  Allison and Patty rented two homes that were right across the street from each other in the area surrounding Mount Snow.  The vacation homes there are unreal and when I arrived  at the house that Patty was getting ready in, I realized that she really wasn’t kidding when she was describing the shear size of it when we had first met many, many months ago.  It was massive and it was the perfect place for their day!  When I arrived the first I noticed besides Allison’s smile, was her beautiful dress.  It was stunning!  And right as I was getting all of my gear out, Allison started reading a letter from her mom…..

blog1

While Allison was getting ready, she told me about this ring, which every woman in her family had worn on their wedding day for the past 100 years.  How cool is that?!

When I ran across the street to grab some of Patty getting ready, the first thing she said is “you have to grab a picture of my shoes……I love my shoes!”

blog4

Shortly after, it was time for the ceremony to start.  The clouds that had once covered the sky, had by now parted and the sun decided to make an appearance and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect!  As soon as Patty laid her eyes on Allison,  her reaction was pure emotion…..and I was there to capture it…

Now let’s discuss their vows.  Can you say Niagara Falls?!!  I usually cry as it is at weddings, even when handwritten vows aren’t involved.  But just a few sentences into Allison’s vows and I couldn’t stop the tears.  By the time, Patty had finished, my face was completely soaked with tears and I was thankful that I remembered to bring some kleenex along with me.

blog7

Right after the ceremony when Allison & Patty had a couple of minutes by themselves, Patty started talking about the moment Allison arrived and the clouds parted and the angels started singing….

Weren’t their cake/cupcakes fun?!

blog12

This was another touching moment I’ll never forget.  Right before they cut the cake, they asked everyone to gather is the main room of the house which has this sunken in section so that everyone there could gather around them.  After a couple of speeches, Patty proceeded to go around the room and introduce everyone…..and mention the single guests at the same time.  It was great and I was happy I was there to capture it!

blog13

I’ll end with a photo of the happy couple dancing…..

blog14

Thank you so much Allison and Patty for letting me capture your day!
