Two Things…….-Vermont Wedding Photographer

I am two things…..a very busy photographer and a very bad blogger!  I really NEED to update this more often, which is something that I say time and time again!  I was having the same problem with my family blog where I share photos of my daughter.  I was often hearing “where’s some new pics of Lillian…..you ARE a photographer after all!”  So this is it…..I’m taking the time to blog weddings and sessions and each one really does deserve it’s own post so I’m going to go way back in time…..TO JULY (bad I know!)

So picture this……the weather report is nasty and the whole way up to Montpelier (about a two hour drive) me and my sister were so afraid that the 85% chance of rain would come true.  Rain and outdoor ceremony are two words that just don’t mix…..never have and never will!  So we stopped at a Super K-Mart in Rutland since that’s the only place I could think of that would carry something that I now bring to every wedding I photograph…..large black umbrellas!  So off we went with the umbrellas in tow.  The whole way up I was watching the clouds saying “oh that doesn’t look very good!”  I had been to Kristin’s parents property before when I shot Kristan and Stefan’s engagement photos and I knew that no matter what the outcome was going to be with the weather, it was going to be a good day.  We were very lucky that day……just a few very light sprinkles for about 3 minutes and that was it!

When I entered the room after Kristin had put her dress on, I’ll be the first to admit that I started to cry…..though I only let a few of the tears actually come out!  Her beautiful dress was her mother’s wedding dress and it reminded me so much of my mother’s dress.  From that moment on I knew that it was going to be a beautiful day….

The location and setting of their wedding couldn’t have been more perfect and you could tell how much hard work had gone into their day….

Ya gotta love this moment between Kristin and her bridesmaids right before the ceremony where they all gathered around her and said a prayer….

And of course the ceremony was beautiful….

and then after that the party began, starting with a great spread from Spice of Life Catering…..yummo….

Oh and lets not forget about a few candids…the ladies lovin Stefan…

and a formal one in the mix….check out that smokin wedding party….

a few moments for Kristin and Stefan alone before the real party begins (vintage wash added to these photos)….

Then it was time to head to the tent…..here’s a few of my favorite moments….

Thank so much Kristin and Stefan for letting me be a part of your day!  And let me leave with you with one of my favorite details from the day….

Whew…..that was like writing a novel I tell ya!  So I’ll be back next week with some more posts and I can’t promise that they’ll be any shorter….it’s just hard for me to leave details out!

So…..

things are starting to slow down for me and I thought I’d take just a moment to blog since I did a really poor job of it over the summer!  If I could just hire someone that could read my brain and put the posts up for me I’d be all set…..maybe next year!  Annnnnnyways……I love that fall is here.  I love the colors of fall, which is probably why I was married in October.  I think that the temperature on my wedding day was like 70 degrees outside and it had been chilly the whole week leading up to it.  So many things that I would have changed if I could have gone back now that I photograph weddings.  I would have put more thought into my cake…….it was absolutely delish but it was rather plain…..though my dress was rather plain as well so I guess it fit in with the theme.  I would have had all different bridesmaids dresses in the same shade.  Things that I wouldn’t have changed were my dress which I loved because it was simple and classic like me……I wanted something that I could pass down to my kids and I didn’t want a fad.  I wouldn’t have changed my flowers…….my aunt did them for me (she’s a florist) and drove them all the way from Syracuse to Buffalo for me and they were to die for!  I loved Dan’s classic black tux with a black tie……he was so handsome.  I loved the venue we went with (Samuel’s Grande Manor) and we had the absolute best DJ ever……he and Dan really made the reception what it was!  I wish I was the photographer capturing my own wedding……we really had a blast!  So I totally went off on a tangent there I know!  I just love October.  So I decided earlier today while I was getting ready for a session that I still need to blog about my sessions and weddings that I’ve had over the summer but that I’m going to group them together so I don’t feel so overwhelmed.  Driving Lillian back and forth to pre-school was added to my plate a few weeks ago so it was just one more thing I had on a very long checklist!  So I will be back to blogging at some point I promise……I have been very busy……just not a very busy blogger.  Anyways, I’ll leave you with a pic of my sweetie on her first day of pre-school…..I totally cried as I was walking her to the door, but I wiped away my tears before anyone could see……hard to believe that she’s 3…….and that I’ll be married for 6 years (together for 12…..man I’m getting old!)…..stop talking Carrie….seriously!
