A country engagement-Southern Vermont Wedding Photographer

The weather forecast was bleak and on the ride up to Montpelier, my spirits were down.  My husband kept telling me “don’t worry Carrie, everything will be okay.”  I wanted to believe him, but I didn’t think that the weather reports for that day would be that off.  Well…………it was really off much to my delight!  We arrived at Kristin’s parents beautiful home where she’ll say I do to Stefan this July.  The grass was still wet with the morning dew, but there was no rain, so I was a happy girl!  Now tell me this……can you picture a more perfect location to tie the knot………

Thank you so much for letting me come up Kristin and Stefan and I can’t wait for your big day!!

Me and the UPS man are…..

getting to know more about each other each week! You see……earlier this week I had a lens delivered and it just so happened that I needed to sign for it. Usually Randy is a runner……he runs up the walkway, hands me the box, tells me to have a nice day and runs back. I mean I know he’s a busy guy…..but why not stop and chat for a minute or two?! So this time with me signing and all, he had to stand still and I got to tell him what I do for a living since he’s constantly bringing me boxes from the same two places……my photo lab and B&H photo which is where I buy all of my equipment. So I’m thinking next time I have to sign I’ll ask him to tell me his life story!

Annnnnnnnyways…..this post has a point I promise……today I wasn’t expecting a package. I usually keep track of EVERYTHING so I was like……ohhhh……B&H decided to send me a free lens for all of my recent business…….score! Well……no B&H tape around the box, but instead it was something as equally delicious as a new piece of glass…….a new sample album. You see……..toddlers, crayons, chairs and sample albums don’t mix. If you put all of those together you will have guessed that my daughter moved the chair, picked up a crayon, opened the dining room china cabinet and drew on my sample albums. Horrified mildly describes how I felt……more like gut wrenching! So all I had was a little 5×7 album. Trying to make the best of things, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try out a new album company. I’m going to be trying out another one as well in the coming weeks but when I opened the box that Randy brought me, my jaw dropped……..IT IS STUNNING! Needless to say, the Dream Album will now be added to the list of custom products that I offer. And to show you that getting married isn’t the only reason to get an album, I decided to fill this album with kids, seniors and families because those memories deserve to be preserved in a book just as much as any wedding (I’ll be doing another sample album with wedding images of course!)

Think I sound like a huge infomercial and I don’t have the cred to back it up……..check this out…..

Southern Vermont Photographer-A wedding in the country…..

Literally! Nancy and Lenny were married at the Wedding in the Country Chapel in Galway and it was such a cute and quaint little spot! I was so worried all week that it was going to rain, but I’ve learned to ignore the forecast for the weekend because it tends to be a little off (especially when they have a hard time forecasting the next day.) The sun was out, the trees were getting a little greenery on them and it was just an overall beautiful day!

The photo on the left is through the window panes at the chapel. I know it’s not in focus, but that’s mostly because the glass in the windows are really old and it has that rippled effect which I love (just like the windows in my house!) The one in the middle reminds me of my wedding day……so focused on him…..isn’t she beautiful?! And of course their first kiss as husband and wife!

Nancy’s (left) and Lenny’s (right) parents and the happy couple in the field behind the chapel!

The guys (I love detail shots like this) and the gals!

And the fun that was had by all afterwards at the reception at The Wishing Well in Gansevoort! All of the photos highlighted were shot using natural light. Although I did use my flash towards the end of the evening, great photos can still be captured using the available light…..especially this time of the year when light is still pouring through the windows!
