Eating Well Magazine Session

A couple of months ago I was given the opportunity to shoot Jenn and Troy for an article that Eating Well Magazine was doing on a weight loss challenge and I’m finally able to share some of the photos since it’ll finally be hitting the magazine shelves! We started off at my house taking some photos of little Mr. J who was the absolute cutest. Then we headed off to Shushan, NY to get some outdoor photos in front of the wonderful red barn, the great brick buildings and the great orange couch. After this session I started to realize how much I need to focus on what I put into my body. I’ll be the first to admit that I dislike most veggies, but that’s no reason that I can’t eat more of what I do like that’s good for me! So I decided that as of tomorrow, January 1st, I’m going to focus on my eating habits more. How strange is it that a magazine shoot made me realize that it’s time to straighten up?! Now I’m not going to do anything rash and go eat beans and peas or anything or heaven forbid cut out carbs (I could eat carbs all day long!) I guess we’ll see what happens! Anyways, I’ll stop babbling finally and share some of the photos! And be sure to check back throughout the month…..lots of new products that I’ll be offering that I’ll be sharing!!

Be sure to pick up a copy of Eating Well at your local bookstore or magazine rack or check out their website at www.eatingwell.com!

They’re going to the chapel….

and they’re going to get maaaaaaaarried! Have that song in your head yet (which totally reminds me of Father of the Bride btw!) The weather apparently wasn’t on our side the first couple of times we scheduled Briana & Anthony’s engagement session since it rained both times, but we finally had a break the last time! It was super cold so I had to stop at the Gap to pick up a new pair of gloves since I knew that all of my winter stuff was stashed away from our move this past summer. And while I opted for comfort with my warm and toasty hiking boots, I knew I was throwing fashion and cuteness out the window……but hey…..I was behind the camera not in front of it so it was okay if my footwear wasn’t cute!

We chose Downtown Saratoga Springs which is someplace that I’ve been meaning to shoot at for some time now and I’m looking forward to many more sessions since there are so many possibilities location wise! They were really great the whole time, cold wind and all and I’m really looking forward to capturing their day next year! So how about a little peak…..

Still lots more session to share in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season ahead if I don’t have the time to blog between now and Christmas!

Where has the time gone?

Time flies when you’re busy that’s for sure! Lots of photos to share but I thought I’d give a little update on some new things that’ll be available at Carrie Ann Photography for 2009. First I’ll be offering some new print sizes which is something that I’ve been meaning to do for some time now. Additionally, I’ll also be offering canvas prints, photo jewelry, framing options and new albums as well! I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to photograph so many wonderful clients this year and I look forward to the memories that I’ll be able to capture in 2009. I really am living my own personal dream…..capturing memories for others and being able to watch my daughter grow up at the same time….truly the best of both worlds if you ask me!

With winter upon us, the outdoor sessions have come to an end and with it came a new business decision from me. Starting next year, I will be shooting portrait sessions in natural light only. What does this mean for you?! It means there’s no need to worry about me setting up my equipment! While I’ll still offer sessions with a backdrop (ie. senior yearbook photos, newborn, etc.) , they’ll only be shot during the daytime next to a window. Naturally, I’ll still be using my lighting and flash equipment for indoor weddings and receptions as needed so no need to worry future or current brides! It’s really only the portrait sessions (newborns, children, families, seniors and engagement) that will now be photographed using natural light. For me, natural light photographs are exactly what they sound like…..natural! While I understand and can appreciate the need for lighting when it’s needed, I also understand that I need to focus on what I love most and for me a naturally lit photograph truly “speaks” to me. Anyways, I think it’s time to share some photos and it looks like I really have a lot of catching up to do!! Tonight I’ll be sharing one of my recent sessions and then as the days go on I’ll dive into some of my past sessions that I never got around to sharing (going to do a better job with keeping up with the blogging in ’09!)

All of the above photographs were shot indoors next to a window using natural light only!
